Dysport® - What is it?

Dysport® is one of several injectables that temporarily relaxes certain muscles that cause wrinkles. The standard muscles that are treated include forehead, crows feet, and in between the eyebrows. Other areas of the face can also be treated. By relaxing these muscles the skin is given an even and rejuvenated appearance.

How Does Dysport® Work?

After treatment people will start noticing lines start to smooth out in 24-48 hours. Improvement will continue for several days and optimal results are seen at 2-3 weeks after injections.

What are the Side Effects of Dysport®?

There are no common side effects when injecting Dysport®, however some redness and swelling may be present after treatment but this will disappear within a few minutes. Patients are able to resume daily routines immediately but should avoid working out, manipulating the areas injecting and laying down for a couple of hours.

How long does Dysport® last?

The duration of Dysport®'s effects can vary among individuals depending upon the dosage. On average, Dysport® injections tend to last for about 3 to 4 months.

What is the Post-Care for Dysport®?

After receiving Dysport® injections, it's essential to follow some post-care guidelines to ensure the best results and minimize potential side effects.

Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for at least 24 hours to prevent the spread of the toxin to unintended areas.
Refrain from strenuous exercise or activities that may increase blood flow to the face for the first 24 hours following the injections.
Avoid lying down flat for around 4 hours after the injections. Remaining upright can reduce the risk of the Dysport® spreading to unintended areas.
Do not massage or manipulate the treated area for the first few days following the injections, as this can cause the Dysport® to spread to unwanted areas.
Avoid consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours post-treatment as it may increase the risk of bruising at the injection site.
Stay away from saunas, hot tubs, or any activities that involve exposure to high heat or extreme cold for at least 24 hours after the injections..

Follow up with your healthcare provider if you have any concerns or experience unexpected side effects after the injections.

Who is a candidate for Dysport®?

Dysport® injections are primarily used for cosmetic purposes to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and lines caused by muscle movements. Adults with facial wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements, such as forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), and crow's feet around the eyes make excellent candidates for Dysport®®. Individuals looking to soften the appearance of wrinkles or prevent the formation of new lines due to facial expressions also make great candidates.
